Porsche 997
The 997 replaced the 996 in july 2004, keeping the familiar shape, Porsche seemed to achieve the impossible by making it appear cleaner, simpler as well as reducing drag to 0.28, giving an almost retro newness by taking styling tips from previous generations of the 911 family, the same can be said for the modern interior re-design,
at first came 3600cc Carrera and the 3800cc Carrera S which had the Porsche Active Suspension Management for adjusting the suspension.
2005 came the 4wd Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S and both models were wider than the Carrera 2’s by 32mm. The sliding glassed roofed Porsche 997 Targa in 4wd were launched late 2006.
The mighty 997 turbo arrived with an all new 4WD system and Porsche Traction Management to vary the amount of torque giving greater traction, with the twin turbo 3600cc unit from the 996 had a power increase to 473BHP and came with variable turbine geometry which not only produces more power but helped with low-rev boost and reduced fuel usage, 0-100 km/h in 3.7 secs and onto 190 plus mph with some users claiming to achieve faster times, OverBoost options packs were available giving torque boosts.
